Biography
I was born in Loznica, Yugoslavia in 1985 as the child of a Serbian-Bosnian mother and a Palestinian-Syrian father. At my age of nine, we fled to Damascus, Syria. I eventually graduated there in 2008 at Damascus University of Fine Arts, specialized in printmaking.
I had to leave Damascus in 2012. I have been in constant transit my entire life. This constant transition, the nightly stories of my Palestinian grandmother and my work as a cultural mediator in refugee camps (UNFBA; EU & Non-EU) have inspired me.
In 2019, I began my studies in the class of Prof. Lucander and Prof. Saddler at UdK Berlin. In 2021, I graduated as Meisterschülerin at Universität der Künste, Berlin.
I am emphasizing themes in my art that have been constantly re-appearing throughout my life experience: being full of sadness and torment caused by the non-vanishing presence of war in my life; but, simultaneously maintaining the positivity and joy of a journey through life’.
